About 12,000 Nigerians to be deported from Germany.

The news reaching the Kingston Dome is that about 12,000 Nigerians who are asylum seekers in Germany are most likely to be deported.

The German Head of programme, Migration and Development, Dr. Ralf Sanftenberg said that Germany might deny Nigeria the asylum status.

Sanftenberg said this in Abuja. He said "We have over 37,000 Nigerians in Germany and more than 12,000 of them are asylum seekers.

“There is a little chance for their applications to be moved and they may be forced to come back to Nigeria next year.”

He however added that if any of the affected Nigerians were to come home (Nigeria) willingly, the German government would assist them through a support program.
